Rattle the Cage centers on African-American lawyer and activist FLO KENNEDY as she represents VALERIE SOLANAS for the attempted murder of Andy Warhol, all while struggling against the confines of the feminist establishment, including the National Organization of Women led by feminist BETTY FRIEDAN. Meanwhile, HELEN GURLEY BROWN, kitten-heeled editor of Cosmo Magazine, is in her lipstick and lingerie world with her own brand of feminism and her own ideas about how women can get ahead, namely by using their feminine wiles. Although they disagree on tactics, each of these women rattles the cage society tries to lock them in.
